Conducts home visits to support students and families

Develops positive relationships with families and community partners

Provides and/or coordinates needed mental health services for families

Maintains confidentiality in accordance with all laws and policies

Completes accurate and timely reports and documentation

Foster Care/McKinney-Vento Homeless Coordinator

Child and Adolescent Needs and Strengths (CANS) Coordinator

Supervises attendance team (ITRT)

Serves on the Division Support Team and leads Domain 4 (School Climate) of the Division Support Plan
-
Investigate and take proper action in cases of custody, guardianship, and residency
-
Refers students to and/or attends IST Committee meetings when appropriate
-
Serves on the division crisis team
-
Serves as a member of the eligibility committee and attends eligibility staffing when needed
-
Acts as liaison between the home and the school regarding parental involvement for situational factors influencing
student progress

Maintains contact with the Department of Social Services regarding students in foster care and the database for DSS
complaints/referrals
-
Serves as school representative/liaison to local agencies and service organizations to include the Amherst County Family
Assessment Planning Team (FAP Team), Social Services, Court Services, etc.

Monitors various student services provided through Amherst County Public Schools:
1) homebound instruction
2) referral to and services as a member of FAP Team
3) day treatment program
4) alternative suspension center
5) alternative placements

Completes required State and Federal Reports as necessary Student Discipline
-
Contacts families and delivers packets for students who are recommended for long-term suspension
-
Coordinates alternative education placements
-
Attends Student Accountability Committee (SAC) meetings Court/Social Services/Law Enforcement Liaison

Serves as a liaison with the Department of Social Services
-
Assists with court-related functions
-
Serves as the student and parent assistance/resource liaison
-
Works with DSS regarding Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) and other appropriate assistance for
students and families in need
-
Serves on committees as needed
-
Other duties as apparent or assigned
Compensation will be based on degree and experience as described in the Amherst County Public Schools Salary Scale
