Reports to: Principal and Assistant Principal/Supervisor of CTE
General Definition of Work: To develop and implement an educational program that will effectively provide the best possible education for each child
Essential Functions:
- To guide the learning activities of each student and to provide learning situations suitable for each student
- To provide for the safety, health, and well-being of each pupil in any situation in which students are committed to the teacher’s care
- To maintain the classroom and atmosphere that encourages learning
- To evaluate each student and to report progress to parents
- To become informed about and to comply with the policies and regulations of the school division and of the local school
- To maintain the neatness and proper care of the classroom, equipment, and materials
- To keep essential records necessary for the efficient operation of the school
- To keep abreast of recent developments in education and to show evidence of continuing professional growth
- To contribute to the success of the school by maintaining interest in and developing knowledge of the total school program
- To participate in the decision-making process of the school, particularly those decisions related to curriculum content or change
- To maintain a cooperative attitude toward all school personnel
- To serve as a public relations agent for the school and the school system
- To cooperate with approved community groups in matters related to the welfare of the students
- To perform such duties as are necessary for the efficient and successful operation of the school system
- Make reports to the principal relative to student injuries, hazardous conditions prevailing where students are engaged in activities known or suspected of child abuse, and other areas that normally concern the teacher and school officials
- Track and complete all CTE reports regarding competencies/credentials, and program completers
- The position may include working with the Work-Based Learning program and facilitating student internships with local businesses.
- To perform other duties as assigned by the Principal or his/her designee
Education and Job Experience: Compensation will be based on degree and experience as described in the Amherst County Public Schools Teachers’ Salary Scale Schedule
License/Endorsements: Valid certification to meet state requirements with specific endorsement in Business Education or Business and Information Systems.
Contract Period: 10 months or 11 months
FLSA Status: Exempt
