Reports to: Supervisor of Child Nutrition Program

 

General Definition of Work: Performs advanced human support work planning, coordinating, assigning, overseeing and participating as required in the preparation, cooking and serving of food, preparing and maintaining necessary records and files, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the moderate supervision of the Director of Child Nutrition Program. Continuous supervision is exercised over the Child Nutrition Program Assistants.

 

Essential Functions:

This work requires the frequent exertion of up to 10 pounds of force and occasional exertion of up to 25 pounds of force; work regularly requires standing, walking, speaking or hearing, using hands to finger, handle or feel and reaching with hands and arms, frequently requires tasting or smelling, lifting and repetitive motions and occasionally requires sitting and pushing or pulling; work has standard vision requirements; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data, using measuring devices and observing general surroundings and activities; work occasionally requires exposure to outdoor weather conditions, exposure to extreme cold (non-weather) and exposure to extreme heat (non-weather); work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g. business, light traffic).

 

General knowledge of the preparation, cooking and serving of food in large quantities; general knowledge of food quality and values; some knowledge of special dietary requirements; general knowledge of the practices used in receiving and storing good in large quantities; general knowledge of kitchen sanitation and safety measures used in food handling and in the operation, cleaning and care of utensils, equipment and work area; ability to supervise the work others; ability to prepare reports; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, students and school staff. A high school diploma or high school equivalency certificate and moderate experience in food service in an institutional setting, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

Possession of or ability to obtain child nutrition certification within two years of employment. Associates degree and child nutrition work experience preferred.

 

Contract Period: 10 months
