Reports to: Regional Program Manager

                                                 

General Definition of Work: The Regional Instructional Specialist for adult education shall have a primary responsibility of assisting with the state's adult education initiatives. The Regional Adult Education Specialist is accountable for the responsibilities described below.

 

Essential Functions:

  1. Work with the local partners, one-stop workforce centers, area community colleges, and local employers to promote adult education and literacy initiatives and transitions to postsecondary education and

  1. Increase opportunities for instruction
  2. Develop and implement outreach strategies and work as a Recovery Specialist to retain students
  3. Provide program assistance, instructional support, and professional development opportunities to local and regional programs                                                                               
  4. Ensure routine coordination between program and applicable school division concerning NEDP adult high school diploma
  5. Lead new teacher orientation activities and volunteer trainings
  6. Assist VOCTAE with program monitoring and evaluation which may include participating in site visits and providing programs with site visit technical assistance
  7. Assist OAEL, when necessary, in working with local programs outside the assigned region
  8. Other activities required to meet the goals of OAEL
  9. The specialist may not be employed in another position that would prevent the full implementation of the duties of this position. The specialist must be available for activities assocaited with this position conducted during the day, in the evenin, and on weekends.

 

Education and Job Experience: Bachelor's degree preferred

 

Terms of Employment: July 1st - June 30th (160 Days - 7 hours daily). Salary range - $23,000-$28,000 plus travel expenses. Part-time position without Health Benefits.

 

Evaluation:

Performance on this job will be evaluated by the Assistant Superintendent in accordance with school board policy and administrative regulations on evaluation of classified personnel.
